Preparing Your Home for Sale in Pennsylvania

When it comes to selling a home or property in Chester County PA, everybody wants theirs to sell for as much as possible and as quickly as possible.
With a competitive market, a home is likely not going to sell in this way without a little sprucing up. Careful planning and staging your home will make it more attractive and marketable, and just a few simple steps will help you think like a buyer rather than a seller:

Maximize curb appeal: The first thing potential buyers will see when they visit your home is the outside. Be sure to trim the lawn, clear off the walkway and even plant some flowers if you can. A warm, welcoming exterior will make visitors want to come inside.

Think clean: Once the potential buyers are in the house, they will be looking for a clean, bright feeling. Pay special attention to the bathrooms and kitchen to be sure that everything looks as modern and clean as a whistle. Don’t be afraid to call a plumber if there are any issues in these rooms. It’ll be worth your money!

Showcase your space: You want the inside of your house to look as spacious as possible, so clear off all counter space and de-clutter whatever you can. Get rid of any extra furniture or items that are excessively large. This will make your rooms seem larger. Don’t throw these things in the basement or garage, because potential buyers want to see those areas, too. Instead, rent a storage space to keep your items until your house is sold.

Be organized: Potential buyers will probably snoop around in your closets and cabinets. Make sure that everything is put away neatly and clearly organized. This will keep buyers interested and may add extra space to your storage areas, as well.

Don’t get too personal: It can be difficult to say goodbye to a home, but when a buyers look at a house, they want to be able to see themselves living there. Take down family photos and paint over the height chart that you marked on the doorframe to measure your children’s growth. In addition, be sure to take down anything in the house that you plan on taking with you when you move. Buyers may love your chandelier, but then become disappointed when they move in and it’s not there.

Once your home is ready to be sold, you might want to add some finishing touches, such as playing soft music or baking cookies to make buyers feel more at home. Keep window drapes and blinds open and be ready to welcome your buyers to their new home.
